“Wish you everything bad”
The “treasure” appeals to Terodde’s grace
Dieter Schatzschneider is still the most successful goalscorer in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the meantime he shares the record with the furious Simon Terodde. The Schalke will presumably soon pass. No problem for the “treasure”. Just not on this match day, please.
Simon Terodde laughed. “I wish you all bad for Friday”, Dieter Schatzschneider had affectionately called out to him in the video call – after all, Terodde can become the only record scorer in the 2nd division in his “living room” in Hanover: “It would be nice if you had yours Let go of goal hunger a bit. ” Terodde actually does not want to completely rule this out before the game at Hannover 96 (6.30 p.m. on Sky and in the live ticker on ntv.de). “I can hold back,” said the FC Schalke 04 attacker with a smile, but only if the Royal Blues win 2-0 without a Terodde goal: “We have to have the three points somewhere.”
Terodde and Schatzschneider – they both scored 153 goals in the second division. In Hanover, of all places, in front of the 96 icon “Schatz”, Terodde can rise to become the sole record holder. As an extra motivation for the record, the 33-year-old recently received an old autograph card from Schatzschneider’s time at Schalke, placed on the seat in the dressing room.
“The Terodde is really worthy”
Schatzschneider has long since come to terms with the fact that he will lose the record. “An outstanding performance, compliments. The Terodde is really worthy,” said the 63-year-old. But Terodde should please spare Hanover, the 13th table. And in fact, Hanover is something of a feared opponent for Terodde. In the last five games against 96, the goal machine did not hit, Terodde never managed a victory against Lower Saxony.
Schalke coach Dimitrios Grammozis spoke of a “crisis” at Terodde in view of such numbers – but only in jest. He is “still very focused, but also has the necessary looseness to tackle a game like this,” said Grammozis: “I am very positive that he will also make his chances in Hanover.”
Terodde himself finds it “super likeable” and “honest” that Schatzschneider grants him the record, but also openly admits that he would have liked to keep the record. Now they will probably get to know each other personally. Maybe Terodde will really spare Hanover, but he is still aiming for the sole goal record and a personal best – namely his first four-pack. “I am not defending myself against it, but four in a second division game are already a house number,” Terodde told the “kicker”.
