With Accor in charge, the Lido will lose its review

The hotel group has announced the elimination of 157 positions (artistic and especially in the dining room) out of 184.

Say goodbye to dinner shows at the Lido. Accor, its new owner, wants to put an end to the review of the famous Parisian cabaret, and relaunch it by diversifying its artistic programming. The hotel group (Ibis, Mercure, Sofitel, etc.) is going all out to carry out its project. Thursday, he announced the elimination of 157 positions (artistic and indoors especially), out of 184. Most will be done through retirements, reclassifications and retraining aid. “The entire artistic platform, which concerns around sixty people, will disappear”, laments a trade unionist. Despite a dream location on the Champs-Élysées, the cabaret has aged badly, while the Moulin Rouge was given a makeover after Baz Luhrmann’s film in 2001, with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

Attendance at the Lido has been declining for ten years and the losses are accumulating. In December, when he took control – by buying it from Sodexo – Accor had warned that he would launch major work and that the show would be revisited. It is a big bang which is preparing. “The ambition is to present several original creations per year, and no longer a single magazine, we explain on the side of Accor. To vary the programming, we must change the organization. There will no longer be a permanent troop. »

Designed for Parisians and tourists alike, the next shows will be created under the direction of Jean-Luc Choplin, the former director of the Théâtre du Châtelet, who was also the programmer of La Seine musicale. They will be destined to be exported to other cinemas, in France and internationally.
