Square Enix today unveiled the brand new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI, the long-awaited next installment of the license, still scheduled for summer 2023 on PS5. Title Ambition, this trailer gives a new insight into the history of the game and especially the different nations of Valisthéa. Especially on some of their colorful representatives. Players can thus discover the secrets of the Emissaries. These men and women who have the ability to call upon terrible power. Terrible certainly, but which promises a great show for the players, both in its aesthetic aspect and in the impressive side of the fights.
The story therefore places us in Valisthea, a world that has been slowly dying since its ancestors provoked the gods, fifteen hundred years ago. Since then, the Black Plague has continued to spread across the lands, killing all traces of life or magic. Eventually, the Black Plague will plunge the world entirely into darkness. Moreover, the light of the Mother Crystals that protect Valisthea and her people is already fading. However, without these crystals, men cannot live.
This is why the five great nations of Valisthea fight over their light. The Archduchy of Rosalia, the Holy Empire of Bloodbrec, the Republic of Dalmequia, the Kingdom of Iron and the Kingdom of Valœd are ready to do anything to get their hands on the power of the Crystals, and with it Valisthea. From these confrontations, an aberration will then arise. A power that will change the destiny of those called the Emissaries. Simple human at first, their body now seems to contain an entity called Primordial. A power which is not without consequence on their own body nor on their spirit.
