After Brave which announced its “De-AMP” feature a few days ago, it’s the turn of DuckDuckGo to provide similar functionality.

It is now rolling out to DuckDuckGo mobile apps as well as its browser extensions.

A new player in the war against AMP pages

DuckDuckGo announced on its Twitter account to deploy a feature to counter AMP versions of website pages. Like what Brave announced a few days ago, it takes care of automatically redirecting the user to the original web page when an AMP page is loaded or shared in DuckDuckGo applications or browsers that use the search engine extension.

Like Brave, the company has indicated that it is implementing this feature to counter AMP technology, which is considered harmful since it would allow Google to track users and their browsing habits even more. According to the search engine, Google would use the technology to strengthen its monopoly, by promoting AMP versions of sites in search results and in Google Ads. An accusation refuted on Twitter by Danny Sullivan, Public Liaison of Search at Google.

The feature is already available on DuckDuckGo mobile apps and browser extensions.
