Apple won the battle for a thriller starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The as yet untitled work is staged by Jon Watts.

The Apple film studio is the beaming winner in the fight for a thriller with Hollywood buddies George Clooney (60) and Brad Pitt (57). At least that’s what the industry journal “Deadline” reports. A number of large studios showed interest last week – including Sony, Lionsgate, Netflix, Amazon, Universal and Warner Bros.

Two solo crooks on a path

The as yet untitled work is written, staged and produced by director Jon Watts (40). Most recently he was responsible for the latest “Spider-Man” films with Tom Holland (25) as the spider man. The Clooney / Pitt film tells the story of two crooks who normally work solo but are now supposed to be active together. In addition to Watts, the two Hollywood stars will work as co-producers with their companies Smokehouse Pictures and Plan B Entertainment.

However, the award for Apple does not automatically mean that the much-anticipated film will only be released on the company’s streaming portal, Apple TV +. Instead, a conventional theatrical release is also to be planned, for which the superstar duo Clooney / Pitt is said to receive an eight-digit buzzer together.

Films with Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro also went to Apple

Apple recently received several awards for large film productions with a star line-up. These include “Emancipation” by filmmaker Antoine Fuqua (55), in which Will Smith (53) takes the lead role, and Martin Scorsese (78) “Killers of the Flower Moon” with the two Oscar winners Leonardo DiCaprio (46) and Robert De Niro (78).

Brad Pitt and George Clooney, who both also have Oscars in their closet, were last in front of the camera in 2008 – for the crime comedy “Burn After Reading – Who’s Burning Your Fingers Here?” But best known is their collaboration as part of the top-class ensemble of the “Ocean’s Eleven” series by director Steven Soderbergh (58).
