Scorer this Monday evening against Greece, Kylian Mbappé scored his 40th goal with the Blues. He is only one length behind Michel Platini, who had scored 41 goals in the tricolor jersey. “It’s both an honor and (…) the next target to shoot down,” said the PSG striker.

Already a scorer on Friday against Gibraltar (3-0), Kylian Mbappé scored Monday in Saint-Denis against Greece his 40th goal in 70 selections, approaching a length of Michel Platini, the fourth scorer in the history of the Blues. The 2022 World Cup top scorer, with eight goals, is on a streak of 23 goals in his last 21 matches in the blue jersey. He now threatens Platini, who has 41 goals in 72 caps.

“An honor”

“It’s both an honor and (…) the next target to beat,” Mbappé said in a press conference during the March rally about Platini. “I continue my way and it goes through Michel Platini”.

He scored his 54th goal of the season, club and selection included, thus equaling the Norwegian Erling Haaland. Monday, Mbappé became at 24 and a half the youngest player to reach 70 caps for the France team.
