BRIEF // Focused on inclusion options for years, Apple is offering an interesting option on the next version of its mobile operating system. The user will be able to ask his iPhone to address him in a non-gendered way.
It is a function in tune with the times. Apple, which recently presented version 16 of iOS, available to everyone in a few months when the iPhone 14 is released, is strengthening its features related to social inclusion. This time, the system will be able to address you in a gender-neutral way, at least if you want to.
To do this, the user will have to go to Settings > General > Languages and regions > Form of address. In this tab, he will be offered to choose the gender in which he wishes to receive communications from his iPhone, namely Unspecified, Female, Male, Neutral. Depending on the choice made, iOS 16 will adapt the messages and alerts to comply.
Our colleagues from BFMTV have unearthed an evocative example: the device will be able to indicate “the connection is established” choosing gender neutral, or “you are connected” for the female gender.
Apple recently presented other dedicated features, including some to help people with disabilities use the brand’s terminals. It also regularly incorporates new emojis to best represent the entire population.
