With its Cupid mode, Roborock now embraces the competition

The Chinese manufacturer Roborock, a specialist in floor care, is teasing. It has just launched an update that unlocks a new feature for owners of an S7 MaxV: Cupid mode. The most discerning will then have understood “Cupid mode”. Quesaco? In concrete terms, a device from the S7 MaxV range will now be able to detect another nearby robot vacuum cleaner and go give it a kiss. Yes yes…

Accessible from Android and iOS, this option will be available after updating the Roborock app. You must then go to the settings and click on “Pin and go”. Once installed, the update unlocks the feature, and your 3.0 tender moments are yours. The vacuum cleaner automatically detects its partner, moves up to it and gives it a very audible “smack”.

“But what is Roborock playing at?”, that’s probably what you’re wondering. If this option is fun and can distract users for a short time, it should be interpreted differently. While each brand, or almost, has its own ecosystem completely sealed with that of another manufacturer, Roborock seems to be stepping aside. The manufacturer now recognizes the existence of third-party devices and even allows the S7 MaxV to interact with these robots, regardless of their manufacturer.

Could this merger presage a future application common to all home automation? We all dream of it. For the moment, it is necessary to be satisfied with this option; it is still necessary to have two robot vacuum cleaners.
