Volkswagen is working on a sports version of the ID.2all
It may have escaped you, but a few days ago, Volkswagen lifted the veil on a new 100% electric concept: ID.2all. The idea here is to offer a new electric car “for everyone”, with a price of less than 25,000 euros.
If the official presentation of this production Volkswagen ID.2all is scheduled for 2025 for a launch the following year, Kai Grünitz, technical development manager for the German manufacturer, indulged in a few confidences regarding a variation athletic.
An ID.2 GTX… or GTI?
Indeed, questioned by Top Gearthe latter admitted that the group was currently working on “ a sports version of this little ID.2all. We already know that this upcoming model will be designed from a new version of the MEB platform, namely the MEB Entry, and that the ID2.all should have a 166 kW engine (about 226 hp) . The sports version could thus climb to 299 hp, borrowing the engine from the ID.5 GTX.
Kai Grünitz has already confirmed that the upcoming vehicle ” will be front-wheel drive, not all-wheel drive. The latter also announces that he has a figure in mind regarding the power, but that this remains a surprise for the time being.
If the sports version to come is not in doubt, the name of this version has not yet been decided. ” We’ll see if it’s a GTI, a GTX…or something else. says Kai Grünitz. To be continued…. but not before 2026 whatever happens.
