With jam session – very multifaceted jazz prelude to the Kulturforum

Known for extravagant, international jazz with a special touch, the Kulturforum Villach is focusing on women this year. It started with an evening with the Upper Austrian saxophonist Tanja Feichtmair, who inspired in several formations and with a jam session at the end.

Feichtmair starts the concert in a duo with double bass player Peter Herbert Freitag in the sold-out Kulturhofkeller with long, swinging sounds that condense into complex and fast sequences of notes. The evening is characterized by improvisation, which comes to life in different formations (duo, solo, trio, jam session) in the full playful range and complexity with multifaceted dimensions and pointed nuances. Many stars are there Feichtmair also has the long-standing director of the NDR Big Band, the Graz jazz pianist Dieter Glawischnig, and two young talented improvisers from Ljubljana, saxophonist Cene Resnik and drummer Urban Kušar. Not only the audience was enthusiastic: Feichtmair beamed with joy at playing in Villach.
