With Naraka Bladepoint and Harry Potter, NetEase counts its billions

Revenue from video games, the Chinese group’s main driver, amounted to 8.8 billion euros in 2021, compared to 7.7 billion euros in 2020. The rest of the revenue comes from NetEase’s other activities. , which includes the Youdao search engine and the Cloud Music application. The rise in video games can be explained in particular by the success of new products such as Naraka: Bladepoint, which was one of the most popular games on Steam in 2021, and Harry Potter: Magic Emerges, recently announced here in the wake of its box in China.

These successful launches add to the publisher’s mainstays, particularly Chinese fantasy MMORPGs Westward Journey and Westward Journey Online. NetEase also takes care of Dead by Daylight Mobile and Diablo Immortal, about which Blizzard published a long beta review.

While waiting for NetEase to find a place on consoles thanks to future games from its Japanese studios (Grasshopper Manufacture, Ouka Studio, Nagoshi Studio) or even ports of Naraka: Bladepoint, 70% of NetEase’s video game turnover comes from mobile, the rest being credited to the PC.

While our flagship titles remain strong, we’ve also launched a number of blockbuster games, including Naraka: Bladepoint and Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. These new titles further strengthen our portfolio and demonstrate our ability to develop world-class franchises. For 2022, we’re very excited to bring more new games to wider audiences, paving the way for solid growth.“, commented William Ding, CEO of NetEase.
