With the acceleration of work transformations, vocational training seems more necessary

69% of French people feel concerned by the need to adapt their skills to “future labor market needs”. This is one of the main lessons of the fourth barometer of vocational training and employment conducted by the CSA institute for Center Inffo, an association under the supervision of the ministry responsible for vocational training, carried out in January among 1,607 active and the results of which are published on Monday 27 March.

Unable to overlook the hot topics of the moment (pension reform, inflation), the survey first notes a certain pessimism for some of the assets. A third of them do not consider themselves “not confident” regarding their professional future, compared to a quarter in 2020. The figure rises to 39% for those over 50, and 67% for job seekers. This anxiety is found massively among young people.

This fear of the future is explained by the acceleration of professional life, in particular because of the many transitions at work: ecological, digital, energy. “The study highlights that professional life is far from being a long calm riversummarizes Julie Gaillot, director of the Society division at CSA. It is both a constraint and an opportunity, which the assets have fully integrated. Training is seen by them as a lever to reintroduce stability. Adapting, willingly or by force, becomes necessary. »

Employability and remuneration

Often, the professional transition goes hand in hand with a retraining: 21% of respondents say they are currently preparing a professional retraining, including 38% among job seekers, and especially 43% among 18-24 year olds. When there is no change of profession, it is a question of updating one’s skills: a majority believe that they will do the same job in five years… while considering that it evolves quickly. “41% think that their job is changing very quickly, 35% plan to change jobs within two years. Overall, one in two working people thinks of changing jobslists Julie Gaillot. These numbers have rarely been so high. »
