With the Pixel 7, Google would have signed the best sales week in its history

And one more for Google! After outperforming last year with its Pixel 6, which was the fastest-selling smartphone in its history, the Californian giant seems to be continuing its momentum with results for the third quarter of 2022 which confirm the good start of the Pixel 7.

“We recently had our best week of sales for the Pixel, and I’m really proud of the positive feedback so far”Sundar Pichai announced about the brand’s latest smartphone during the company’s third quarter 2022 earnings announcement.

A logical sequence

The Pixel 6 already enjoyed very good value for money when it was released, while retaining the main characteristics of a high-end smartphone. The Pixel 7 uses the same formula, this time with even more advanced hardware and a price that remains unchanged, thus offering a certain continuity that must have played in this impulse.

The list of countries where the smartphone is marketed has also grown, with new destinations such as Denmark, India, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. A widening of the market which can partly explain the growth displayed.

A good performance… to be put into perspective

Despite this, Google still represents only a small portion of smartphone sales worldwide, and the Mountain View firm is still far from the monstrous figures obtained by Samsung or Apple.

The company has only sold 27.6 million of its Pixels since 2016 (the year the first model was launched), which represents only 1/10th of Samsung’s total sales in 2021. But its new strategy turned to the hardware seems to work and brings convincing results.
