The American company is launching its new robot vacuum mid-range, equipped with smart features and a mapping system.

iRobot today welcomes a new member of the Roomba family to pick up dust and other waste from the floor of your home.

A smarter mid-range robot vacuum thanks to cleaning suggestions

At first glance, the device looks a lot like the iRobot Roomba i3+ that we tested in 2021. For this intermediate model in the “i” range, the manufacturer is however offering a major novelty with the introduction of a mapping system.

Unlike the previous model, you will be able to send the device to each room of the house for localized cleaning.

With the launch of iRobot OS a few days ago, the brand says that the robot vacuum will also come with smart features. The mobile application will offer you cleaning cycles according to the seasons, to intensify the passages during the moults of your pets for example.

It can also be connected to an iRobot Bravaa jet m6 floor scrubber to create a complete cleaning cycle. The robot cleaner will then start automatically once the vacuum cleaner has returned to its charging base, for an ever cleaner home.

A version with dust collection base available

The iRobot Roomba i5 will be offered in a “+” version, accompanied by a charging station and automatic dust collection. The AllergenLock bag will hold up to two months of dirt before it needs to be replaced and captures 99% of pollen and mold.

For cleaning, iRobot integrates its double rubber brush into its vacuum cleaner as well as a side brush for collecting dust along walls and baseboards.

Finally, for more comfort, the iRobot Roomba i5+ can be connected to Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa to start a cleaning cycle via a voice command placed on a connected speaker. iRobot should also soon offer Siri Shortcuts to offer voice interactions to iPhone users.

The iRobot Roomba i5+ is available now at a price of 699 euros. The same vacuum cleaner, without the charging base, is offered at a price of 449 euros.
