Google has just presented a rather incredible translation tool, which allows you to translate a filmed speech into a new identical video.

Universal Translator, the introduction

And if we have been delighted in recent months by the emergence of powerful chatbots, Google may well have managed to regain a little head start with its new baby: Universal Translator.
An AI tool presented during its annual Google I/O conference, and which, as its name suggests, is used to translate. But unlike our usual DeepL or even Google Translation, this is video translation. With Universal Translator, the basic video is duplicated, when the speech is translated into the desired language, then reinserted into the speaker’s mouth with a cloned voice tone and sound. The result just below is stunning!
The worst deepfake?
The performance is such that the movement of the lips will also be adapted to the target language of the translation. Except that if we can obviously salute a new feat on the part of the company chaired by Sundar Pichai, we understand very quickly what the potential negative implications of such technology are.
