With the X Series 11 washing machine, Haier aims for excellence

To gain notoriety in a market facing well-established behemoths like Electrolux, Miele or Brandt, one of the solutions for newcomers is to offer products that are out of the ordinary because of their aggressive price or their technological advance. Haier has focused on this second option for its X Series 11 HW100-BD14397U1 washing machine, a model with a capacity of 10 kg which has a large number of options in order to attract all the votes.

For example, the Chinese manufacturer equips its new spearhead with a direct drive induction motor, placed directly on the drum. This means you can do without the drive belt, an element often responsible for a high noise level and which, in the worst case, can break and damage the washing machine. To make matters worse, this type of motor consumes much less energy than a conventional motor and, on the X Series 11, it drives the drum (66 liters) at a maximum rotation speed of 1400 rpm. As a high-end washing machine, the HW100-BD14397U1 abandons the classic detergent drawer for an automatic detergent dispenser that will deliver the right dose, at the right time.

Like many other manufacturers before it, Haier gave in to the sirens of steam. This feature has many advantages in laundry care since steam allows for in-depth disinfection of textile fibers. In addition, it softens them to make ironing easier. The Chinese manufacturer also emphasizes the importance of washing your laundry in a clean machine. We have known for a long time the ABT treatment of the sleeve (between the door and the drum) or the laundry drawer, but the X Series 11 is also equipped with an automatic cleaning system for the device, called Smart Dual Spray; after each wash, two jets of water eliminate residues (detergent, textiles, dirt, etc.) which accumulate in the door seal or on the porthole.

According to Haier, laundry care is not limited to washing. At the end of the cycle, and if the Ultra Fresh Air option has been activated, air is blown into the drum to prevent the formation of bad odors; the laundry stays fresh up to 12 hours after the end of the program according to the technical sheet. Other manufacturers (Whirlpool in particular) offer this functionality, but they only rely on one revolution of the drum at regular intervals to achieve their goals.

A control panel and an application for programming.

Obviously, to further emphasize the Premium side of the However, we notice the presence of a wheel, probably to choose the basic program (cotton, synthetic, delicate…). In the era of artificial intelligence, the manufacturer promises that an automatic cycle labeled Smart AI is planned: the washing machine recognizes the type of textile, the quantity present in the drum and sets the cycle on its own, while adapting the amount of detergent. The control panel is not the only way to program a cycle, since the connection to a smartphone has been provided to set up a program remotely. The hOn application will also be used to better monitor and control the energy consumption of the X Series 11, and will provide advice on treating stains and the best way to maintain your equipment. You can also start a cycle away from home, and even be advised on the best time to do your laundry depending on the weather, so as not to end up with a hanging machine while a downpour is raging.

This profusion of technology might suggest that the X Series 11 HW100-BD14397U1 is an overpriced device, but it only costs €990. A sum certainly substantial, but much more affordable than that requested by the competition for such a well-equipped washing machine.
