Thanks to an update, Apple Maps will allow its use even when you cannot get the local network.

After its evaluation system, the Apple firm will implement a new feature that will change your relationship to Apple Maps. The competitor of Google Maps can in turn be used offline by authorizing the downloading of maps of your journey.

A new option of iOS 17

The iOS 17 version of Apple’s operating system will soon be formalized. This new edition should please all those who are used to going on the road, if we are to believe this discovery published on Reddit and taken up by 9to5macwhich shows us an interesting change coming to Apple Maps.

Indeed, from now on, after you have established your route, the application will search on the quality of the network to verify the existence of a connection all along. Otherwise, it will automatically save a map, which will be offered to you by a link so that you can keep the necessary directions on your phone to reach your destination, even if the phone is offline.

United States first?

This option will also be quite easy to manage, since all you have to do is click on your Apple Maps profile picture to access all the maps that have been downloaded by the application. These will also be regularly updated by the system, once again automatically, and can even be consulted on the Apple Watch if the watch is paired with the iPhone.

At the moment, the feature could only be observed for national parks in the United States. Apple must surely still be testing it before deploying it throughout the United States, then certainly in many countries around the world. An incentive for all iPhone owners to abandon Google Maps and finally use the in-house tool?
