“Without me, she would have sold 12 records”: Louis Bertignac very cash on his collaboration and his affair with Carla Bruni

Asked by Paris Match, Louis Bertignac was not kind to Carla Bruni. The musician notably returned to his romantic relationship with the former First Lady, but also their musical collaboration.

Louis Bertignac has always been very cash. This time again, he was no exception to the rule during his interview with our colleagues from Paris Match. Indeed, the musician returned to his collaboration with Carla Bruni, for whom he produced the album in 2002. He also spoke about his relationship with the former First Lady : “I hope she will forgive me for this confession”, he begins by declaring, before continuing: “Our story lasted from 1986 to 1990 with ups and downs. She was never crazy about me, far from it…”, he laments.

But it’s not because the two lovebirds are separatingthat Louis Bertignac refuses to produce the first disc of his former companion: “When I made her record, twelve years later, the water flowed under the bridges. We had crossed paths again, she had improved as she got older. She was not a bitch with me. I think that She would have liked to fall in love with me because I was a rock guitarist in a famous band, but she didn’t believe it any more than that. I knew that I wasn’t in love with her. Which is even worse. But one thing is certain: she is not a housewife”he said, laughing.

Louis Bertignac: “She made me listen to models that I frankly found zero”

But what does he think of the artist Carla Bruni? Louis Bertignac is then not tender : “She made me listen to models that I frankly found useless. I came back to the essence of things: together we played the Stones acoustically, just with our voices and our guitars. I offered to work in this way there on two tracks. It was wonderful. She loved it too and she asked me to do the whole album. Without me, she would have sold 12 records.”, he says. That is what is said. Hoping that this remark does not offend the former First Lady.
