Prince William has paid an introductory visit to Wales without his wife Kate.

Prince William has paid a solo visit to Wales. As the new Prince of Wales, William wants to deepen his understanding of the country.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), her grandson William (40) became Prince of Wales. In his new role, William set out to deepen his relationship with the Welsh people. The prince then spent this Wednesday morning in the country west of England, as reported, among other things, by “Wales Online”.. His solo journey took William to the Welsh capital of Cardiff and the British parliament known as the “Senedd”.

Prince William wants to ‘deepen his understanding of Welsh issues’

In Parliament, William met with leaders of Welsh parties such as First Minister Mark Drakeford (68). Kensington Palace stated that in the west of Britain William would like to “deepen his understanding of the most significant problems and opportunities facing the Welsh people”. William had previously announced how his father, King Charles III. (74) before him as Prince of Wales, wanting to learn the Welsh language.

No investiture ceremony for Prince William

William and his wife Kate were succeeded by King Charles III after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. made Prince and Princess of Wales. On his solo visit to the part of Britain, William reiterated his intention not to hold an official investiture ceremony as Prince of Wales. Rather, according to an unnamed source, the Prince and Princess of Wales want to modernize their traditional roles and focus on relevant duties that “feel authentic to both of them”.
