Wolfgang Stumph will be 75 on Sunday. How he celebrates his birthday in Corona times and what this number means, he reveals in an interview.

Actor Wolfgang Stumph (74, "Go Trabi Go") celebrates his 75th birthday on Sunday. Whether it is a birthday present from the station that his new film "Stubbe – Tödliche Hilfe" (January 30th, 8:15 pm, ZDF) can be seen the evening before? "You could interpret it like that," replied the popular artist with a laugh in an interview with the news agency spot on news. "The broadcast date is also a bit of a tradition, most of the 52 'Stubbe' films were shown in January."

How does he celebrate his birthday in Corona times?

And how does the native of Lower Silesia and Dresdener by choice celebrate his birthday in the midst of the corona pandemic? "If it weren't for Corona, I would probably have rented an Elbe steamer again and invited my family and all my friends and colleagues to whom I owe that I can work so happily and successfully. I did that for my 70th birthday", says Stumph.

The family includes his wife Christine, son Thomas and daughter Stephanie Stumph (36), who is also an actress and can be seen with him on Sunday in "Stubbe – Tödliche Hilfe". Wolfgang Stumph is very pleased with this renewed collaboration after a break of several years, and it fits well, because "the 'Stubbe' series actually tells the family story of a perfectly normal detective".

What does the number 75 mean for Wolfgang Stumph?

When asked what the number 75 means for him, Wolfgang Stumph jokes: "We can't celebrate because of Corona, so I'm not getting any older this year". But then he gets serious: "Of course this is a number that gives me more and more responsibility for my work and my life. It is also an occasion to reflect on whether I am true to myself, in my views and in my actions."

Apart from that, his birthday is not important to him. "And I don't see any reason to behave according to my age either. I am and will remain the big boy who shaped life and who is still curious about the world," promises the bustling filmmaker in an interview .
