Claws against claws, Wolverine against Sabertooth (Sabertooth for the purists). Hugh Jackman reunites with Tyler Mane, his alter-ego from the very first “X-Men” film, in the new teaser for “Deadpool 3”.
Dear Logan seems ready to face an old adversary again, more than 20 years after their last encounter in the original X-Men of the year 2000. Indeed, on the occasion of the release of Deadpool & Wolverine next month, Ryan Reynolds shared a new teaser revealing the reappearance of a certain Sabretooth!
“I don’t think we can add another ‘and’ to the title”, joked Ryan Reynolds by sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter). And yes, Wolverine’s sworn enemy, played for the first time in live action by actor Tyler Mane, made his comeback in the images published this Friday. “Ready to die?” he asks once reunited with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).

Of course, that’s without counting on Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), who, before the battle begins, must first prepare his friend.You look ridiculous”, he said while removing all kinds of swords and knives from the body of the adamantium-clawed mutant. “People have been waiting for this fight for decades. Sabretooth is Logan’s most famous adversary in the comics. The two characters thus faced off on the big screen in the first X-Men directed by Bryan Singer but Tyler Mane hadn’t reprised his role since: that’s now done. In the 2009 prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it was Liev Schreiber who brought the character to life.

He’s not the only one back
While there have been hints at the return of other characters from previous X-Men films, only Pyro (Aaron Stanford) has been officially confirmed as part of the cast. Deadpool & Wolverine. The mutant that can control any source of fire was seen in X-Men, X-Men 2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. We have no doubt that the film still has other surprises in store for us.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Shawn Levy took the opportunity to tease these potential returns: “I will say that we didn’t start with a wish list. From the day we started crafting this Deadpool and Wolverine story, we let the story dictate the characters, not the other way around. Aaron and his return as Pyro is a result of that, and that applies to almost every character you’ll see in the film.”

The plot of Deadpool & Wolverine takes place years after the events of Deadpool 2 (2018). Wade Wilson has retired from his superhero mercenary career and has become a used car salesman. Agents of the Anachronistic Variation Tribunal (the watchdogs of the multiverse first introduced in the Loki series) arrive to rip him out of his reality and bring him to their boss, Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen), who gives him an important mission. He will then team up with an alternate-universe version of Wolverine.
Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna), Colossus (Stefan Kapičić), Peter/Sugar Bear (Rob Delaney), Dopinder (Karan Soni) and Shatterstar (Lewis Tan), seen in previous films, will also return.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be released on July 24, 2024.
