Women’s Euro: UEFA announces record audiences for the competition

365 million viewers were live around the world this summer to follow the matches of the Women’s Euro, announced UEFA. A craze that can be found in different countries, and in particular in France, where the semi-final of Les Bleues attracted 6.2 million viewers, a record for a women’s Euro competition.

The football players attracted people in front of the television screens this summer, during the Euro. Never had the women’s competition been so watched: 365 million live viewers worldwide, in cumulative audience, according to figures released by UEFA on Wednesday. A record audience, doubled compared to the previous edition of the competition in 2017, and tripled compared to that of 2013.

6.2 million French viewers for the Les Bleues semi-final

The final alone, which this year opposed England and Germany, was watched by three times as many viewers as in 2017. In England, for example, 17.4 million viewers watched live the victory for their women’s team, a ratings record for the BBC.

A craze that can also be found in France where the audiences were also good. The semi-final of Les Bleues, unfortunately lost against Germany, achieved the best performance for a Women’s Euro competition, with 6.2 million viewers.
