Women’s mid-length hair: here are the most trendy cuts for spring 2024: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Your mid-length hair could use a boost before summer but you’re running out of ideas? After the great period of the French bob, variations of this super easy-to-wear bob are still just as trendy this season, as are less straight cuts with more gradient contours. Something to delight all hair types, from the finest to the thickest.

In terms of hair color, it’s the end of polar blonde for blonde lovers. “We return to brighter blondes, with golden beige tones which give more of a summer effect and healthy glow”, tells us hairstylist Océane Avakian. Pastel tones are making a comeback: after strawberry blonde, the season will be peach blonde, a pastel blonde with pink highlights. Among brunettes, the trend is also towards warmer shades for highlights, i.e. caramel, honey, hazelnut tones or even with a copper undertone. “And for uniform colors, variations of red, and in particular cherry red, have completely returned this winter, and continue in spring”, continues Océane Avakian. But what haircuts to show off the colors of the season? We tell you everything.

Gradient, smooth bob, bangs… What are the most trendy cuts on mid-length hair for the spring/summer 2024 season?

The Butterfly cut

The Butterfly cut is a layered cut in its entirety, either at the contours, around the face and throughout the mass and lengths. It aims to give an effect “butterfly wings” to the hair and corresponds more to hair with thickness.

The Curve cut

Fortunately, there is a derivative of the Butterfly cut for fine hair: the Curve cut. “Instead of degrading in the mass, we degrade the front parts of the face, with or without curtain bangs”, details Océane Avakian. The interest of this haircut: to emphasize the features thanks to the gradient on the front.

Bubble bob

Good news for fans of the long square at shoulder level: the bob is still at the top of trends. “Either very straight and stiff, or wavy for a falsely neglected effect., confirms Océane Avakian. Small possible variation: the Bubble bob. The base is the same as a bob, but we degrade the contour of the face and in the mass for a more rounded, more feminine effect. While it’s an excellent cut for those who lack volume, you need to know how to master the art of blow-drying, because it’s a cut that requires styling.

The Shag bob

A shorter variation of the long shag, the shag bob is in fact a square between the ear and the jaw, very tapered to break the strict side of the square and give it a rock effect. It is generally embellished with fringe which is also tapered. “We are between the short cut and the mid-length cut”adds the hairdresser.

The mullet cut

“The mullet cut is very trendy among both men and women,” recognizes Océane Avakian. In 2024, the mullet is revisited: it is “very tapered, longer at the nape of the neck and especially combed behind the ears”.
