Thanks to the 2-0 win of the Basel women, the Geneva women have their backs to the wall.

In qualifying, the FCB women saw no land against Servette Chênois and lost both games without scoring themselves (0:2 and 0:3). But now, when it comes to the nitty-gritty – getting into the playoff final – the Basel team have a good laugh. They decided the semi-final first leg against Geneva 2-0.

Imane Saoud, who scored both goals for the home team at the St. Jakob sports complex, became the woman of the match.

  • 2nd minute: With the first shot on goal and after 95 seconds, Saoud lets her teammates celebrate. She is sent down in an exemplary manner, looks up briefly and duped the Geneva keeper Ines Texeira Pereira with a well-placed shot into the top right corner.
  • 14 minutes: After a nice attack from the outside behind the defence, Saoud rushes into the centre, wins the duel for the ball, keeps the overview in front of Texeira Pereira and slides in to make it 2-0.

After that, the qualifying winners from southwestern Switzerland owed a lot. Although they made an effort, they were practically only able to pose a threat from standard situations. The “Bebbi” were compact after the early double strike in defense and were also able to set a few pinpricks offensively.

FCZ women still on course

In the second semi-final duel, the FCZ women played against GC on the Niederhasli campus. Naomi Mégroz scored the only goal in the 41st minute from 3 meters after her teammate Fabienne Humm missed the low cross.

The victory was not undeserved, even if the “Hoppers” played along happily and had to complain about a crossbar shot in the 54th minute. In a week, the men’s Schürli will decide who will buy the final ticket.
