The 2023 Women’s World Cup has officially started and the players of the France team are entering the competition against Jamaica this Sunday in the Sydney stadium. A meeting that should launch Hervé Renard’s team to the top, against an opponent who is only playing his second World Cup in history. Kick off at 12 p.m.
Les Bleues make their entry into the running in this Women’s World Cup this Sunday in the Sydney stadium. Against Jamaica, the French have a very specific objective: to win. The France team is obviously the favorite against its opponent which is the 43rd nation in the world and which has never played matches in the World Cup. However, Hervé Renard’s players will have to beware of themselves and get up to speed as quickly as possible.
Jamaica will ‘not give gifts’
“It’s going to be up to us to adapt quickly. I think it’s going to get us started because it’s an athletic, very physical team. I don’t think they’re going to want to give us any gifts,” says midfielder Grace Geyoro. Les Bleues were able to recognize the lawn of the Sydney Football Stadium this Saturday, under the eyes of the president of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, and Jean-Michel Aulas, present on site for the occasion.
As expected, Selma Bacha will not be on the field for this first match for the France team since the left side suffered a sprained ankle a few days ago. The Lyonnaise nevertheless continues to train on the sidelines of the group.
As a reminder, the French are part of group F, alongside Brazil, Jamaica but also Panama. The team trained by Hervé Renard will have to make a successful entry into the competition so as not to leave the Brazilians, 8th nation in the world, ahead.
