Director Patty Jenkins had already revealed it, with Warner's announcement it is official: a third "Wonder Woman" film is coming.

Just a few days after "Wonder Woman 1984" hit cinemas in the US, the production company Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that there will also be a third part of the Diana Prince superhero saga.

As the US trade journal "Variety" reports, both leading actress Gal Gadot (35) and director Patty Jenkins (49) will again be part of the party. As Jenkins revealed to the "Hollywood Reporter" at the beginning of 2019, the plot for the heroine from the DC universe was laid out over three films from the start. And the third part will "definitely" play in the present.

Most successful cinema release since the beginning of the pandemic

"Wonder Woman 1984" was originally supposed to start in summer 2020. Due to the corona pandemic, the start date has been postponed to December 25th. On the first weekend, the strip played in the USA 16.7 million dollars (around 13.6 million euros). According to "Variety", this is the most successful cinema release since the pandemic began.

At the same time, "Wonder Woman 1984" was also released on Warner's own streaming service HBO Max. The film is scheduled to open in German cinemas in January 2021. It is not yet known when the third part will appear.
