In Montpellier, France’s qualification against Morocco for the World Cup final was bereaved by the death of a teenager. After the match, the victim was hit by “a driver”. The driver fled and “the vehicle was found near the scene of the accident and placed in receivership”. The teenager died shortly after his medical treatment.
A teenager died Wednesday evening in Montpellier, hit by “a driver”, following France’s qualification for the World Cup final in Qatar against Morocco, the prefecture announced. The supporters of the France team are bumper to bumper in a city street when one of these cars, which sports a blue white red flag, has it snatched by a group of people. The driver, out of fear according to sources familiar with the matter, rushes into the individuals around, injuring the 14-year-old teenager.

The driver fled and “the vehicle was found near the scene of the accident and placed in sequestration”, added the prefecture in a press release specifying that “the police investigation is progressing rapidly under the direction of the prosecution” . The victim, transferred to the hospital in absolute emergency, died shortly after his medical care.
According to the deputy of Nupes de l’Hérault Nathalie Oziol, the facts occurred in the popular district of La Paillade and the victim was 14 years old, she indicated on Twitter, regretting that this “sporting event is ending in absolute tragedy”. “We want the perpetrators of this despicable act to be found to be tried”, said Thursday, also on the social network, the mayor of Montpellier Michaël Delafosse, expressing his “dismay”. The prosecution could not be reached immediately to give more details on the circumstances of the fatal accident.
