World Cup 2022: France against Denmark, Tunisia and a barrage


The French football team, reigning world champions, inherited a seemingly lenient group D in the first round of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with Denmark, Tunisia and the winner of the play-off between Peru, Australia and the United Arab Emirates, according to the draw made on Friday in Doha.

Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus will kick off their tournament against the victorious team in the play-off on November 22, before challenging the Danes led by Christian Eriksen on November 26, then Wahbi Khazri’s Tunisia on November 30.

The composition of the eight groups

The groups for the Qatar 2022 World Cup (November 21-December 18) after Friday’s draw in Doha:

Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands

Group B: England, Iran, USA, Scotland/Ukraine/Wales

Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland

Group D: France, Peru/United Arab Emirates/Australia, Denmark, Tunisia

Group E: Spain, New Zealand/Costa Rica, Germany, Japan

Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia

Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon

Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea

Editor’s note: Three of the 32 participating nations are not yet known and will be designated after play-off matches between 1, Peru and the winner of the match between the United Arab Emirates and Australia. 2, Costa Rica and New Zealand. 3, Wales and the winner of the match between Ukraine and Scotland.
