Australia has decided against bidding for the 2034 World Cup, finally clearing the way for Saudi Arabia.

As the desert state’s last possible competitor, the Australian association has decided not to register its interest in hosting the tournament with the world association Fifa.
“We have examined the possibility of applying to host the World Cup and, after considering all factors, have come to the conclusion that we will not do so in 2034,” said Football Australia. Applicants had until Tuesday to confirm their interest.
Allocation almost fixed
Apart from Saudi Arabia, which has been criticized for human rights violations, among other things, no one has dared to take cover. The final application must be submitted by July 2024. There is little doubt that Saudi Arabia will win the contract.
