“The road is long and strewn with pitfalls“, said the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi in a statement sent to AFP. “I suggest you ask me again if France is in the final or semi-final“, added the ex-LR now rallied to Emmanuel Macron, about this World Cup which will be disputed from November 20 to December 18.
The town hall of Cannes indicated for its part to AFP that it would make a decision “depending on the results of the French team“. The mayor of Cannes, LR David Lisnard, president of the Association of Mayors of France, is the son of a former professional footballer, Denis Lisnard. In 2018, on the occasion of the World Cup in Russia, the city of Nice, like that of Cannes, broadcast on a giant screen the victorious semi-final of the French team (1-0 against Belgium) as well as the final won against Croatia (4-2).
