These apps support sustainable consumption

On World Earth Day, thinking about your own consumer behavior is the order of the day. There are apps that support their users with this.

April 22nd is World Earth Day. It exists to strengthen appreciation for nature, but is also intended to encourage people to rethink their consumer behavior. These apps support this.

Scan groceries with “CodeCheck”

With “CodeCheck”, users can scan barcodes directly in the supermarket or drugstore and the app links to information on the manufacturer, origin and price of the product. The application also offers sustainable alternative products.

In addition, a food traffic light is included and there are filter options if certain allergies are present. The application also offers the option of uploading products that are not included in the app – the already large database continues to grow. “CodeCheck” is available free of charge for iOS and Android.

No more food waste with “Too Good To Go”

The “Too Good To Go” app saves intact food from being thrown away. Participating restaurants and businesses indicate if they have any unsold goods. With the help of the app, you choose a company and then pick up the discounted meal at the agreed time.

The range of “Too Good To Go” is growing steadily; according to the app operator, more than 7,200 businesses are already registered as partners. These include sizes such as Nordsee, Alnatura, Edeka and Dunkin Donuts. “Tood Good To Go” is available free of charge for iOS and Android.

“Happy Cow”: Happy cows

“Happy Cow” is, so to speak, “Yelp” for meat refusers. The restaurant rating app lists businesses that deliberately refrain from offering meat. Users can use filters to further refine the selection: if you do without animal products, you just have to tick the box and you will see the restaurants that provide the happiest cows of all. “Happy Cow” is available free of charge for Android and iOS.
