(Boursier.com) – Worldline finalized the acquisition of Axepta Italy as part of its European consolidation strategy. The acquisition of 80% of Axepta Italy, a major bank acquirer in the country, and the implementation of a strategic alliance in Merchant Services in Italy with BNL are part of Worldline’s strategy to expand its presence in Europe through partnerships with major financial institutions. This follows the acquisition of Handelsbanken’s card acquisition activities in the Nordic countries, as well as that of Cardlink and the signing of an agreement to acquire Eurobank’s merchant acquisition activities in Greece.
Axepta Italy is one of the major bank acquirers in the country with nearly 200 million transactions acquired per year (around 5% of MSV market share) from an acceptance network of around 220,000 points of sale.
