“WorldSkills” – professional world championship is over: one final, many questions

The world championship of jobs is over. And yet it is still unclear who the winners of this year’s “WorldSkills” in Salzburg are. That will only be revealed at the victory celebration.

That makes the victory ceremony all the more beautiful and exciting – when nobody knows how it ended.” Juror Hans-Thomas Schacht smiles mischievously. It’s also impossible to tell who the winners of this year’s world championships are. “The smile in the eyes of the winners is the most beautiful thing, the surprise is huge,” he says, giving an outlook on the victory celebration on Sunday in the Salzburg exhibition center (4 p.m.). Since Wednesday, participants from all over the world have been fighting for victory in seven categories. Talented people had to solve problems from the world of work on the wheel loader, in the chemical laboratory or on the computer. There was no help. Strict jurors monitored what was happening, awarded points and chose the winners. Eight Austrians were also there – the “Krone” reported. The Salzburg Killian Wallner fought for the gold medal in the category agricultural and construction machinery technology. Until the end, the Pongauer worked with great concentration on his tasks. “Winning a medal in front of friends and family would be a success that I would not forget for the rest of my life,” he revealed the “Krone” in advance. During the professional world championships, Wallner didn’t have time to chat. Just like his competitors, he also had a chat hprohibited. Signs explicitly pointed out to the visitors that they were not allowed to talk to the participants. The signs were multilingual – after all, onlookers from all over the world romped around in the exhibition center. Many had dressed up and created an atmosphere worthy of the World Cup. So far, Austria’s craftsmen have won five gold medals and two silver and two bronze medals at the “WorldSkills”. The next world championship of professions will take place in two years in Lyon, France.
