King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, attended the Royal Maundy service at York Minster on Maundy Thursday.

At the annual Royal Maundy service on Maundy Thursday, King Charles III. (74) and his wife, Queen Camilla (75), not only ushered in the Easter weekend. During their visit to York Minster, the British monarch also distributed the traditional Maundy coins to 74 women and 74 men “in recognition of their work for the church and community,” it said the official Instagram account of the Royals. The number of recipients is therefore always based on “the age of the monarch”.

During their visit, Charles and Camilla were greeted by hundreds of onlookers. The 74-year-old wore a modern black tailcoat with a gray trim, under which he wore a white shirt, waistcoat and blue tie ensemble, as well as gray pinstripe dress pants. Camilla wore a dark blue midi dress with long sleeves and a white collar. She also wore a matching hat, high heels and a blue handbag.

Easter service on Sunday

Next Easter Sunday, the British Royals will have the traditional Easter service in St. George’s Chapel on Windsor. Prince William (40) and his wife, Princess Kate (41), will also attend the ceremony, as the palace has already confirmed.
