Would you like a sweater? – Norwegian pattern – the winter clothing trend

Self-knitted Norwegian pattern sweater is of course a hit. But if you can’t do that, then we have the following tips for you.

When you think of Norway, the first thing that comes to mind are the fjords. Then the oil deposits in the country. Or the sweaters with a Norwegian pattern. They are currently experiencing a real hype. Lusekofte and Selburose are the most common Norwegian patterns. The selburose is one of the oldest rose patterns, the eight-cell style can be found almost everywhere in Norway. Only, maybe we didn’t know it was called that. Marit Guldsetbrua Emstad was the trendsetter who adorned the first gloves with this pattern in 1857. This became such a tradition in Norway that knitting the gloves became the job of single women. In other words, they had to make such black and white gloves for all guests plus husband before the wedding. The style stands for broader patterns and contrasting colors. Here, too, a woman played a major role. Annicke Sibben collected all the traditional knitting patterns in one volume, which helped that the patterns from Setesdal became known internationally. Lusekofte is more of a cardigan or jacket style that is shaped by these same patterns. The origin must have been around the year 1800. In the beginning, the patterns were only worn by men, later they became part of the female wardrobe as well. Then there is the Marius style. It is a mixture of all Norwegian patterns. The new trend emerged in 1953, and the fashion designers Unn Soiland and Britten Eriksen were responsible for making it famous.
