WoW: Closure of many servers and lifting of restrictions to come on Classic!

If the kingdoms of Burning Crusade Classic are currently in a very delicate position, sometimes overpopulated sometimes desert, Blizzard has finally announced changes in favor of some of them. It’s in a statement published on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 that the announcement has fallen: restrictions on migration will soon be lifted, and certain kingdoms merged on this version of World of Warcraft in order to prepare for the arrival of Wrath of the Lich King!

Merging and shutting down multiple servers

Over time, many BC Classic servers have lost population density and the situation is only getting worse day by day. If nothing has been done since the deployment of Classic first of the name to counter this major problem, Blizzard finally plans to remove the most depopulated of them with the deployment of the maintenance of Wednesday August 10, 2022 and send directly the characters who were on it on other more populated kingdoms.

Here is the full list of servers that will be fully retired as of Wednesday, August 10, 2022:

Germans (DE)

  • Celebras (PR)
  • Dragon’s Call (pvp)
  • Heartstrike (pvp)
  • Lucifron (pvp)

English (EN)

  • Bloodfang (pvp)
  • Dragonfang (pvp)
  • Dreadmist (pvp)
  • Flamelash (pvp)
  • Gandling (pvp)
  • Hydraxian Waterlords (PR)
  • Judgment (pvp)
  • Noggenfogger (pvp)
  • Shazzrah (pvp)
  • Skullflame (pvp)
  • Stonespine (pvp)
  • Ten Storms (pvp)
  • Zandalar Tribe (RP PvP)

French (FR)

Russians (RU)

  • Вестник Рока – Harbinger of Doom (pvp)
  • Рок-Делар – Rhok’delar (pvp)
  • Змейталак – Wyrmthalak (pvp)

The exact list of kingdoms on which the characters found on those aroused has not yet been revealed. If one of your characters is currently on one of them, a free migration phase has been triggered to allow you to migrate to a handful of servers selected by Blizzard:

  • Amnennar (FR – pvp)
  • Ashbringer pvp)
  • Earthshaker pvp)
  • Golemagg (FR – pvp)
  • Mandokir (ES – pvp)
  • Mograine (FR – pvp)
  • Patchwork (DE – pvp)
  • Razorgore pvp)
  • Sulfuron (FR – pvp)
  • Transcendence (DE – pvp)
  • Venoxis (DE- pvp)

This surprising move comes even as new so-called “Fresh” realms are slated for the Wrath of the Lich King Classic PrePatch rollout. However, migrations will be impossible there, so you will have to leave your kingdom before August 10 or Blizzard will choose your arrival server for you!

Lifting of certain restrictions

In addition, two big news that will delight many players were announced on the same day. On the one hand, the migrations soon (in the next few weeks) available from the Normal type servers to those of the PvP type. This will allow Auberdine players to join Sulfuron if they wish, for example, in exchange for the usual price of a migration: €25.00.

In line with this change, all players will soon also be able to create characters from both factions on all PvP ranked realms. Until now, if you created an Alliance character on one of these servers, for example, it could only accommodate characters from this faction on your account in order to limit abuse in PvP.

Good news for which we are still awaiting the official deployment date. Blizzard hasn’t revealed anything on this side, but it’s a safe bet that it will take place around the deployment of the PrePatch for the next expansion (whose release date is also unknown at this time).
