WoW, Weekly Chest Rewards Change

Present since the launch of Shadowlands, the Vault system (weekly chest) should change slightly with the arrival of WoW Patch 9.2. Blizzard has indeed announced (source in English) that the criteria for obtaining the rewards will be reduced, to the delight of the players.

Change to the Great Vault as of Wednesday, March 2

Blizzard has announced that during weekly maintenance on Wednesday, March 2, the reward criteria for the Weekly Vault (Great Vault) will change. Thus, all aspects of the game will benefit from a reduction in the number of Bosses to kill, MM+ keys to complete and ranked PvP games to win.

Concerning the Raid part:

  • The first chest will be available as soon as 2 Bosses are killed (instead of 3).
  • The second chest will be available as soon as 5 Bosses are killed (instead of 6).
  • The third chest will be available as soon as 8 Bosses are killed (instead of 9).

This should benefit guilds aiming to move quickly from one difficulty to another (especially in Mythic), favoring access to better pieces of equipment more quickly.

Concerning the MM+ part:

  • The first chest will be available from the first completed key (no change).
  • The second chest will be available from 4 completed keys (no change).
  • The third chest will be available from 8 completed keys (instead of 10).

The idea here is to reduce the total burden placed on PvE players by making rewards more accessible and potentially allowing for more optimization on rerolls as well.

Regarding the PvP part:

  • The first chest will be available after obtaining 1250 honor points (no change).
  • The second chest will be available after obtaining 2500 honor points (no change).
  • The third chest will be after obtaining 5500 honor points (instead of 6250).

Getting 6250 Honor in Ranked PvP was sometimes a mind-numbing task for players who had already achieved a high score. This reduction will thus make the last tab more accessible.

More accessible rewards for the weekly chest in the perspective of set pieces

While these changes should be appreciated by players, they will also be important for Set pieces. The return of Tier Sets is one of the great novelties of Patch 9.2. However, for players not playing in Raids, it will be possible to obtain their 4 set pieces via the weekly chest.

Indeed, the new system will give a chance to obtain a set piece per tab (chest) unlocked. If you are a complete (and patient) player, you can increase your chances of getting one by unlocking all nine tabs.

The reduction of reward criteria therefore encourages this practice but also could encourage players to invest a little more in various activities.

Warning : It will not be possible to obtain a chest or shoulder pads in the first week of the content. Thus, on March 8, you will be able to obtain set pieces via the rewards of the weekly chest, but these two additional pieces will only be accessible from March 15.

Blizzard seems to want to win back the hearts of its fans and this change to the reward criteria for the Weekly Vault (Great Vault) should satisfy WoW players. You can find all of our information and guides on our World of Warcraft portal.
