WRC 23 RUMOR: 16 car categories and extreme customization for next Codemasters car game

After a long stay at Nakon and KT-Racingwhich will end with WRC Generations in October (available from €39.99 at Micromania), the official video games of the rally championship will land at Codemasters from 2023 to at least 2027. They will therefore also pass under the control of its owner, Electronic Arts.

We don’t have any information yet on who might be called WRC 23 and probably won’t have any before the release of WRC Generations maybe next year, but Tom Henderson ofInsider Gaming claims to have some thanks to his sources. He claims that the game of Codemasters would understand 16 categories of vehicles, including WRC, WRC2, F2 Kitcar and H1 FWD.

Above all, the experience would be based on extreme customization possibilities, to be explored thanks to the virtual currency of the game. We could choose to have a front, central or rear engine transmission, the type of our engine, gearbox, clutch, radiator, exhaust and even our suspensions and brakes. It would also be possible to buy used parts rather than new ones, with necessarily diminished performance. And that’s just power customization, because the appearance of the vehicle could also be changed, changing the bumpers, wheels, mudguards, seat belt color, steering wheel and digital display. We would have the possibility to create several cars and save them to be able to change our settings as we wish.

Tom Henderson also states that this WRC would have been developed by taking bases and idea from another game DiRT (Rally ?), to save development costs and centralize functionality. What to do with WRC 23 a reference episode as soon as it is released?
