WRC Generations: Leagues mode and its solo or team rankings explained

It’s not because WRC Generations will be the last licensed rally game from Nakon and KT-Racing before the handover to Codemasters that it will be a discounted version. Updated championship, hybrid engines, legendary cars and more await us this week, following a slight delay in the launch of the project.

There will also be a revamped experience for fans of online modes, for an e-sports approach reminiscent of the competitive games of the moment. The mode Leagues will thus be separated into divisions from Beginning at Legendcommon to all consoles (except the Switch) thanks to the cross play. It will even be possible to join groups to increase the ranking of our team over our personal performance on daily and weekly events, with 3 attempts each time to achieve the best time. The first season will begin on November 28 after a pre-season accessible from launch.

The Leagues mode of WRC Generations is the main competitive mode of the title. It is divided into two categories: solo and team. Players can attempt to rank in both modes simultaneously. In solo, the ranking of a player is determined by the points obtained individually, while the addition of the points obtained by each player determines the positioning of his team.

In the Leagues mode which is a cross-platform feature (except for the Switch which will work independently), the goal is to obtain the best ranking within the different leagues:

  • Legend (top league);
  • Champion;
  • Professional ;
  • Rookie;
  • Junior;
  • Beginner (players not ranked or demoted from Junior 3).

Each league is subdivided into three tiers. Each third is divided into groups of players or teams, for confrontations on a human scale. Groups can contain 30 solo players and 8 teams in the mode of the same name.

Unfolding of the seasons

Seasons are divided into weeks, including a qualification phase (one week) and ten weeks of competition composed of daily and weekly events in which players can participate to climb their group ranking.

Each week ends with a reclassification during which players and teams are repositioned according to their performance. On this occasion, players gain experience allowing them to unlock new customization elements for the driver card and new stickers for the livery editor.

Once the season is over, the world’s top 3 teams and players are entered into the Leagues Hall of Fame.

Events

For each event, players have 3 tries to get the best time. A warm-up mode also allows you to train on the specials. The events of the solo and team modes are different.

The daily events are simple rallies in imposed conditions (special, car, weather) renewed each day and added to the group classification at the end of the day.

The weekly events take the form of a complete rally, achievable in several game sessions and renewed each week. The player can choose a car within an imposed category. Damage, repairs and tire choices are handled at the service park. The points obtained are added to the group ranking at the end of each week.

Finally, the qualification phases are events appearing at the start of each season, using the same format as a weekly event in its operation. The results obtained take the form of a general classification determining the starting position of each player for the season.

Calendar of the first seasons

A two-week pre-season is scheduled for October 31 to allow players to familiarize themselves with the system. The first season officially begins on November 28, 2022.

With these new Leagues, KT Racing intends to offer a new competitive mode over the long term. The leagues will suit the best players in the world who will fight to the nearest hundredth to enter the Hall of Fame at the end of each season. They will also delight novice players who will face more affordable opponents in the leaderboards while promoting their progress over time.

The release date of WRC Generations, it’s for this November 3 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and as we just learned, for this December 1 on Switch. You can pre-order your copy from €39.99 on Amazon.co.uk.
