VS’is an unforgiving sample error. Paul has been living with only one lung for three years, says RTL. In question, a laboratory error: diagnosed with lung cancer, he was operated on urgently. It was only after removing said lung that the lab realized he had mixed up two samples. Paul’s lung was actually perfectly healthy. Yes, but too late. A fault with traumatic consequences for the sexagenarian.

“It’s very debilitating and above all there is a psychological side which is heavy. A part of yourself is taken away from you, ”Paul told RTL. Since his operation, about three years ago, the man has been constantly out of breath. He also considers that he was “mutilated”, and this, in the end, for no medical reason.

Doctors “do not incur any responsibility for the moment”

Since learning of the lab’s error, Paul has been relentless in his pursuit of justice. He filed a complaint, but, three years later, he sees no follow-up. The sexagenarian is annoyed by the slowness of justice. “I find that today it is unfair not to worry people who gave a result that was not mine,” he laments.

Paul hired a lawyer by his side, Laurent de Caunes. He too is worried about not seeing the case progress, especially since, according to him, this error, with irreversible consequences, demonstrates that there is “no certainty in the traceability of the analyses, which that this type of incident can happen again”. For mee de Caunes, this affair gives above all “the impression that those who are at the origin of this situation have done nothing to explain it, to determine its causes. They do not incur any liability at this time.
