You won’t find Switzerland in the 2024 WTA tournament calendar. The Ladies Open in Lausanne will not take place next year. After 4 editions, tournament director Jean-François Collet confirmed the end to the news agency Keystone SDA.

He decided to accept a takeover offer from a promoter who wanted to combine two WTA 250 tournaments – Lausanne and Hamburg – to organize a 500 tournament in Linz (January 29th to February 4th). The uncertainty about the city of Lausanne’s commitment to the tournament also played a role in this decision.

Premiere 2019

The Ladies Open took place for the first time in 2019 after the license was taken over by the WTA tournament in Gstaad. In the same year the tournament in Lugano experienced its dernière.

Elisabetta Cocciaretto from Italy triumphed at the last edition in Lausanne in July 2023. The Swiss never made it past the quarterfinals.
