X-Files: Albuquerque: Comedy spin-off for the iconic mystery series in the works

The mystery series "The X Files" enjoys cult status. Now they are working on a wacky spin-off of the "scary FBI cases".

One of the most popular series from the 1990s, "The X Files – The FBI's Scary Cases" will soon be a spin-off. This is reported by the US industry magazine "Variety". The offshoot of the mystery series with cult status is apparently supposed to be even wackier than the original.

The new format, which therefore bears the working title "The X-Files: Albuquerque", is said to be an animated comedy series. Whether there will be a reunion with Special Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny, 60) and Special Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson, 52) seems questionable. Neither should currently be involved in the project. However, work on the spin-off is said to have already started.

That's what it's supposed to be about

"The X-Files: Albuquerque" is supposed to revolve around a different team of FBI special agents who did not make it into the first ranks. Accordingly, an office full of outsiders takes care of cases that would be too crazy even for Mulder and Scully. The series could actually be a little highlight for fans, as "The X-Files" creator Chris Carter (62) is said to be involved as executive producer.
