X Flip, X Fold and Pad: a busy end of April in perspective for Vivo

This month of April should definitely end with a bang. The OnePlus Pad will be marketed, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be presented – before international marketing – and, as confirmed by the brand, Vivo will formalize a wave of new products. On the menu, two folding smartphones, the X Flip and X Fold 2, as well as a tablet, the Pad 2.

A first folding clamshell smartphone

If Vivo has already distinguished itself on the folding smartphone market with a first X Fold, the X Flip will be its first model in clamshell format. The latter is still little used by manufacturers, since only Samsung (with its Galaxy Z Flip), Motorola (Razr), Huawei (P50 Pocket) and Oppo (Find N2 Flip) occupy this segment. Vivo therefore intends to join them with a model offered in a purple color which is definitely popular with manufacturers, at least Samsung and Oppo, and which is characterized by its external screen occupying the entire width of the device. The characteristics of the Vivo X Flip are so far the subject of very few rumors, and it should be content to note that the device will carry, on the back, two photo modules with Zeiss stamped optics.

Corridor noises are more specific about the Vivo X Fold 2. We can expect it to retain the 8.03-inch interior screen of the first X Fold, Amoled and at the refresh rate of 120 Hz , but also that it sports an external panel of at least 6.53 inches (Amoled also). The X Fold having been equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also to be expected.

As for the tablet, it should come in the form of a 12.1-inch device, probably powered by a Dimensity 9000 chip flanked by a 10,000 mAh battery. It now remains to know the ambitions of Vivo which, for the time being, has not launched either tablets or folding smartphones on the Old Continent, but could attempt a breakthrough this year.
