Xavier Dupont indoctrinated? His mother at the origin of his entry into a sect

Evaporated in nature for eleven years, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès is the main suspect in a terrible crime. In 2011 in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), while a search notice was broadcast for the whole family, the investigators discovered human remains buried in the garden of the clan’s home. In the hours that followed, the remains of the four children and the mother were exhumed. The pit where the bodies were concealed contains no other bodies. The investigation switches to the criminal trail: all eyes turn to Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. The same day, gendarmes locate the man’s car in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, in the Var. Very quickly, the investigators have an intimate conviction. For them, the assassination was premeditated by the father of the family. But since then, the police have never found his trace. While the investigation is still deadlocked, Bruno de Stabenrath, a friend of the suspect, did not hesitate to come back to the sectarian excesses surrounding the case. And for good reason, since 2019, a legal inquiry targets the Church of Philadelphia. A prayer group led by the mother and sister of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. “In our Catholic circles, visions, voices, we are used to it. People are pretty lenient with mystics“explained Bruno de Stabenrath in an interview with Point of view this August 10. And for those who tried to put the pieces of the puzzle together in their book The Impossible Friend, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès would have ended up understanding that he had been “fooled” by his mother, who had made him believe that he was “the chosen”. A disappointment that would be part of the reasons that led the man to take action: “From 1995, Xavier has the impression that everything is collapsing around him (…) Everything accumulates, his origins in Versailles, the gravity of the environment, maternal mystical-apocalyptic regimentation.”

Xavier Dupont: a suspect with two faces

It was when he learned of this chilling drama that Bruno de Stabenrath discovered who his friend really was. “There were two Xaviers: the adorable friend, and his mother’s son”, thus indicated the writer to the media. And to deliver his intimate conviction: “I have no doubt Xavier was the murderer.”

But for more than a decade, everyone has been wondering: is Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès dead or alive? For Bruno de Stabenrath, he would currently be in the United States. “The USA is what he always wanted to find, the initial journey of his 18 years where he is free again.” As a reminder, before evaporating, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès had emptied the family home and took care to write a message to his loved ones. A letter in which he explained his departure to testify in a narcotics case across the Atlantic.

Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès is still presumed innocent of the charges against him until he has been declared guilty by a competent court to try him.
