Xbox Cloud Gaming has a bright future ahead of it. This Tuesday, during its Build conference, Microsoft said that 10 million players had used Xbox Cloud Gaming since the start of 2022. This number had already been mentioned a few weeks ago in a financial report from the firm. , it is now publicly confirmed. This cloud gaming service is positioned far ahead of Stadia, much less promoted by Google in favor of other products.
10 million players for Xbox Cloud Gaming
It was Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, who announced, during the conference of the Redmond firm, the number of players on his streaming service. In 2022, more than 10 million players streamed games thanks to Microsoft, across 26 countries. Although comparisons are difficult to make, Nvidia for example announced last September that more than 12 million gamers had used Nvidia GeForce Now in 70 countries, as reported 9to5Google. Regarding Google’s Stadia, the web giant has never presented statistics about its number of players.
Xbox Cloud Gaming soon to be first?
What may explain Microsoft’s slight delay compared to Nvidia is that the latter is available in more countries, for longer, but also that it has a free offer. Note that this is also the case on the side of Google Stadia since the service also offers free trials.
But Xbox is not left out: a few weeks ago Microsoft announced that you could now play Fortnite on Xbox Cloud Gaming without a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. A way for the company to have players test its streaming video game service to convince them to switch to a subscription formula. Microsoft had also announced that other games would soon be free-to-play on its platform, to continue to convince players.
During its Build conference, Microsoft also announced the arrival of Android applications on Windows 11 in France, the improvement of the Microsoft Store as well as a dev kit Windows for ARM.
