This weekend, as part of the Summer Game Fest, numerous online conferences allowed us to discover the future games that will power players’ PCs and consoles. Microsoft was of course there with its Xbox Games Showcase. Still no new hardware (portable console, controller, etc.) on the horizon, apart from new Xbox Series A lot of games. Here is a selection of the main announcements.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Microsoft unsurprisingly opened hostilities with Call of Duty Black Ops 6. Expected on consoles and PC on October 25, this will be the first opus of Activision’s long saga to arrive day one on Game Pass.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Still in dynamic FPS, time for the next game from id Software, Doom: The Dark Ages. This prequel will be released in 2025 on Xbox consoles and PC, and will land in Game Pass upon its release.
Dragon Age: The Veilgard
While waiting for gameplay, which will be broadcast this Tuesday, June 11, here is a first preview of Dragon Age: The Veilgard (formerly named Dreadwolf). The opportunity to see that the teams in charge of this RPG have made a fairly relaxed choice in terms of atmosphere. Released this fall on PC and consoles.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Asobo has clearly not been idle this year, as evidenced by the trailer for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Expected this year on PC and Xbox consoles (and Game Pass), the flight simulator will be supplemented with many new features, beyond simple piloting.
Perfect Dark
Still without a release date, the new Perfect Dark caused a sensation during the Xbox Games Showcase.
Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred
The first expansion of Diablo IVbaptized Vessel of Hatred, showed its intro cutscene. Release scheduled for October 8 on PC and consoles. On the menu in particular: a new zone and a new class.
Fable
Long-awaited and still not planned before 2025 on PC, Xbox consoles and Game Pass, Fable had an enchanting new trailer to show off at this Microsoft conference.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure
On October 29, Max Caulfield will be back for a new adventure in Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Developed by Deck Nine and published by Square Enix, this sequel to the acclaimed Life is Strange is planned for PC and Xbox consoles.
Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle
Via a long in-game cutscene, Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle showed what players can expect when it releases on PC and Xbox consoles (and Game Pass) in late 2024.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
This June 10, Ubisoft will hold its own conference. Yet, Assassin’s Creed Shadows was very present at Microsoft, with gameplay of its two protagonists. Released on November 15 on PC and consoles.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Its release on PC and Xbox consoles on September 5 is quite close. So it was time for the FPS STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl to show gameplay.
Gears of War: E-Day
No gameplay or release date for the next one Gearsbut a title and a “historical” setting thanks to a trailer. Gears of War: E-Day will indeed take place during the first invasion of locusts, which Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago will have to face.
Finally, let us mention the very promising Expedition 33, South of Midnight, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Mixtapeor Avowedtrailers of which have been released.
