Some Xbox players can already take advantage of a new screenshot feature.
This consists in effect of directly exporting the clips ” in-game » directly on their Microsoft OneDrive space (which, be careful, would be a victim of ransomware).
Xbox is testing automatically uploading game captures to OneDrive
As you probably know, our consoles new generation » all offer the ability to easily (and instantly) take screenshots and video clips. These are installed directly on the storage space of our consoles, on Xbox Live (at Microsoft) and/or on an external storage medium.
With its new Alpha Skip-Ahead update, dedicated to members of the Xbox Insider program, Microsoft offers a long-awaited new feature, namely the automatic saving of captures to a OneDrive space. Once the update RS_XBOX_DEV_FLIGHT25942.1001.230828-2000 installed, the user only has to configure his capture options in the dedicated menu.
A long-awaited feature, but still to be refined
In addition to this new automatic downloads option, the latest Xbox system update includes a wizard that allows users to save existing Xbox Network clips to OneDrive (which Windows celebrated its 15th anniversary last year), or to a external storage medium.
Currently, however, the OneDrive upload option suffers from a few limitations, starting with the lack of support for 4K and/or HDR captures. However, this feature should be available in the future.
Users with many captures will see their downloads delayed. Xbox asked users to be patient, with screenshots that may take a few days to appear in OneDrive.
According to Microsoft, the update also corrects a problem related to applications, but also another malfunction, this time affecting problems during the pre-installation of certain titles before their launch.
And for those who require significant storage support, but are eyeing the Xbox Series S, remember that Microsoft has just launched an all-new “Carbon Black” model.
