About a week ago, Xbox lost its exclusivity on High on Life, a crazy FPS. Today we have confirmation that another exclusive is coming soon to PS5 and PS4.
By force, you must know the music. The temporary Xbox or PlayStation exclusives are getting shorter and shorter and there is plenty of evidence. We have already mentioned High on Life, the FPS from the creator of Rick & Morty, but we also see it with games like Ghostwire Tokyo or Stray which are now available on Microsoft’s console. And now it’s the turn of another exclusive Xbox to pass.
Xbox loses one of its temporary exclusives
Let’s put an end to the suspense, we are talking about Somerville, a platform and adventure game released on November 15, 2022. This app was not created by just anyone, since the co-founder of the studio Jumpship, head of development , is none other than Dino Patti. If the name means nothing to you, his work has not gone unnoticed. Indeed, he was one of the creators of Playdead and has therefore worked on Limbo and Inside, two nuggets whose reputation is well established. There’s plenty to be excited about, especially since the Xbox exclusivity will have been short-lived.
So it’s only a few months after its release that Somerville will land on PS5 and PS4 on August 31, 2023. But that’s not really a surprise. Indeed, the Exophase site had already revealed, perhaps accidentally, a list of trophies for the PS4 version of the game. But then, what is the story that is told to us? You play as a family man who will have to survive what appears to be an alien invasion. The chases and other hide-and-seek sequences are obviously part of it, like what we could find in the creator’s old productions.
PlayStation has exclusives in store
To stay in theme, know that Sony recently held a conference during which it announced three new excluded. They are respectively called Dhaba: Land of Watermarks, The Winds Rising and The God Slayer. If the first two are action-RPGs, the third was only presented through a few not very explicit images. These games will arrive on PS5 at an as yet unknown date. It remains to be seen how long they will remain in the hands of PlayStation before being exported to Xbox or PC.
