With updates almost every month, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S system software can’t be updated every time. THE patch of firmware from May 2023 is thus one of the most minor, which does not prevent it from bringing some new functionalities: it allows to display the Xbox gamertags of your friends on Discordadds new sorting and filtering options on the Microsoft Store, fixes bugs that slowly drained controllers with internal batteries and makes the quests of Xbox Game Pass easier to find.

The May system update will be available later this week and will allow you to view your Discord friends’ Xbox gamertags, experience new sorting and filtering options in the Microsoft Store on Xbox.com, an Xbox Wireless Controllers update and more.
Your Discord friends’ Xbox gamertags are now displayed
When your Discord and Xbox accounts are linked, you can join the voice channels of your Discord servers directly from your Xbox console. You’ll now be able to see your Discord friends’ Xbox gamertags when you’re signed into your Discord voice channels on your Xbox. This will make it easier to add them as friends and invite them for game sessions.
New sorting and filtering options in the Microsoft Store on Xbox.com
It’s easier than ever to find your new favorite Xbox games and other types of entertainment on the Microsoft Xbox Store. New sorting and filtering options on Xbox.com and your console pages include price, subscriptions, languages offered, and accessibility features to find the right titles for you.
Xbox Wireless Controller Update
Ensuring your controllers are up-to-date maximizes their capabilities and compatibility. This new update fixes bugs that caused controllers with internal batteries to drain slowly, such as the Xbox Elite Series 2 and the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
The life of a rechargeable battery depends on the frequency of recharging. You can check the battery level of a controller anytime, the indicator is located in the upper right corner of all screens in the Xbox interface. If you don’t see this indicator, go to Profile & System > Settings > Devices & Connections > Accessories, then select the controller you’re currently using. Select More options. The battery level indicator is located above the controller image.
Another fix prevents controllers from disconnecting when using headphones and playing in 4K at 120fps, with “Allow variable refresh rate” enabled. You can update your controller by keeping the wireless connection or by plugging it in using a USB cable.
Xbox Game Pass Quests are now easier to find with the new Rewards tab
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass on Console members can earn Microsoft Rewards points by playing titles from the Xbox Game Pass library. We’re starting to offer you different ways to make Quests easier to find. Xbox Game Pass Quests linked to your profile are no longer found in the Games tab, but in the Rewards tab. You can also quickly navigate to this section by pressing the Xbox button to open the Guide, choosing Profile & System, then selecting your profile and My Rewards. This update will be deployed gradually, a random selection of players will be able to discover it very soon.
After you’ve collected all of your Rewards, go to the Microsoft Rewards app on your Xbox to spend your points. Use these to get Xbox gift cards, which you can use to buy digital content for your titles, games, devices, movies, apps, accessories and more.
