XCOM: the director speaks on the future of the franchise

Born in the 90s, the franchise XCOM experienced a resurgence in popularity in 2012 with the reboot XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which appealed to all lovers of turn-based tactical games. A sequel saw the in 2016, then a spin off in 2020, but since then the franchise has been sleeping in the offices of FIRAXIS Games and 2K Games.

So, are we finally going to be entitled to a XCOM 3 in the next few years? Well, nothing is less certain. Jake Solomon, director of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2has been lately busy with Marvel’s Midnight Sunsand there is absolutely nothing planned concerning the license XCOMas he explains to VGC :

Personally, I don’t have any information about this at the moment and I’m saying this because, really, yesterday I was working on the Morbius Abbey outfits and recolors, so I’m not working on them. I don’t have a secret agenda, I don’t know anything about XCOM at this point.

No game XCOM on the horizon therefore, Jake Solomon is still immersed in Marvel’s Midnight Sunsa title gameplay very similar, but with superheroes. The game wowed fans last year and is entitled to various additional content, Dead Pool just added in with the DLC The Good, The Bad, and the Undeadwill come next Venom, Morbius and Tornado.

In the absence of a XCOM 3you can find Marvel’s Midnight Suns at €53.99 on Gamesplanet.
